As part of customer service focus, American Hose offers a series of technical references to assist current and prospective customers in the selection and decision making process for hose, hose fittings, hose accessories, and custom hose assemblies. One of our key reference guides is our hose selection reference information.
Several key factors must be known and quantified before the appropriate hose can be chosen for any application. Here at American Hose, we use the acronym “STAMPED” to guide you in determining the optimum hose. These key factors are:
-
Size – the Inside Diameter (ID), Length, and (in some cases), Outside Diameter (OD)
-
Temperature – parameters including Internal Temperature, External Temperature; Normal Operating Temperature, Minimum Operating Temperature, Maximum Operating Temperature
-
Application – How is the hose expected to perform on the equipment or system it is being used?
-
Material – the product – liquid, jel, solution, etc. - that is being transported or conveyed through the hose
-
Pressure – Normal Operating/Working Pressure
-
Ends – What fittings or couplings are needed (if any); what type, what size, and what type thread?
-
Delivery – When is the hose or custom hose assembly order needed? Where does the order need to be delivered?
Taking all the above factors into consideration will allow American Hose to give you an accurate quote in terms of price and turnaround time.
Other technical reference charts and information available from American Hose include:
-
Length Conversion – gives the user a conversion table from fractional inch to decimal inch to millimeters
-
Temperature and Pressure Conversion – allows the user to convert from degrees Celsius (°C) to degrees Fahrenheit (°F) and from Fahrenheit to Celsius; able to convert pressure from BAR to psi (pounds per square inch), and from psi to BAR .
-
Circle of Safety Program – Parker Industrial Hose Division offers a program called the Circle of Safety, which guides the fabricator with what crimp fittings will work with a specific hose and how to properly assemble the hose and the fitting. Hose assemblies that are constructed according to the Parker Circle of Safety specification software package are guaranteed to meet or even exceed the Parker industrial hose working pressure ratings. American Hose is a Circle of Safety distributor and fabricator.
You can provide your hose and custom hose assemblies as CAD/CAM files, in dwg, dxf, and pdf formats - American Hose uses the latest versions of CAD/CAM software. Whether you use our technical reference resources as a guide, or have prepared CAD files, American Hose can meet and exceed your most exacting standards and tolerances!
